Synopsis

Can you mix a cocktail while eye-to-eye with a criminal? Find out in Best Served Cold, a murder mystery set in a bustling speakeasy where you serve customers, make friends and enemies, and solve crimes. At the Nightcap bar, prohibition is a killer… and so are some of your customers!

My Work

My main design work at RogueSide was on the game Best Served Cold. First, I benchmarked similar games and came up with lots of ideas for a murder mystery game. Once the game concept was approved by the team, I designed the systems that players would use to solve the mystery in Best Served Cold. I mainly designed and prototyped the basis for the notebook and the blackboard, as well as how clues are given to players in the game.

Design

  • Design of Best Served Cold investigation systems (Clues gathering, interacting with clients, shifting their moods)

  • Realization of a funding deck for prototype support (Design documents, prototype objectives, etc..)
  • Making technical documentation and implementing Notebook and blackboard mechanic in Unity
  • Narrative plugins benchmark
  • Test and implementation of a mockup story in arcweave and pixel crusher plugins for Unity
  • Implementation of a test protocol every friday to gather feedbacks and redefine new objectives
